Subway under World Trade Center reopens

NEW YORK, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Rush hour returned Monday to the World Trade Center train station for the first time since Sept. 11, 2001.

Hundreds of commuters using the reopened PATH train station restored rush-hour chaos to the site of the former World Trade Center, the New York Times reported.

"Here they come!" said a transportation official, watching as a crowd of commuters pushed through the turnstiles into the Lower Manhattan station after disembarking from New Jersey trains. "Welcome back everyone."

The station was officially inaugurated on Sunday after a 16-month, $323 million repair was completed with a ceremonial train ride by politicians and members of victims' families.
