No razzing the royals, please

LONDON, Nov. 13 (UPI) -- Comedians at the British Comedy Awards will be warned not to crack jokes about the royal family, the London Mirror reported Thursday.

Stars including host Jonathan Ross, Ant and Dec and Steve Coogan will be ordered not to mention the current crisis involving Prince Charles.

"We feel it wouldn't be appropriate for the royal family to be the butt of the jokes," an undisclosed source told the newspaper.

Organizers of the event, sponsored by One.Tel, admitted late Wednesday the warning could backfire and lead to even more jibes against the Windsors.

The awards will be hosted Dec. 10 on ITV1.
