ATLANTIC CITY, N.J., Oct. 30 (UPI) -- A six-story parking garage under construction in Atlantic City collapsed Thursday, killing four people and injuring 21 others, with one person missing.

The 10:30 a.m. EST accident occurred on property owned by the Tropicana Casino and Resort.

WNBC-TV in New York said the section of the 2,400-space, 10-story parking garage that collapsed left five layers of concrete and steel sloping towards the ground at a steep angle.

Officials said two victims died after being transported to hospitals, while the bodies of the other two fatalities were found in the rubble.

One side of the garage provides support for an 18-story hotel tower, which is also under construction. The part of the garage that collapsed is opposite the tower area.

New Jersey State Police Capt. Ed O'Neill told CNN rescue workers would have to wait until Friday morning to shore up the building before searching for other victims.

The garage is part of a $225 million Tropicana expansion project that was scheduled for completion in March.
