Kuwaiti al-Qaida suspect held in Yemen

SANAA, Yemen, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Yemeni authorities intercepted a Kuwaiti national suspected of involvement with al-Qaida as he tried to board a plane back home, a security source said Friday.

"Intelligence officers arrested Jaber al-Jalahama and took him back to Sanaa for interrogation about his possible contacts with dormant cells of Saudi dissident Osama bin Laden's al-Qaida network," the source said.

A Kuwaiti diplomatic source said the movements of al-Jalahama, a Muslim extremist, were being closely monitored by the Kuwaiti authorities which accuse him of inciting violence against U.S. forces in Kuwait.

Yemen is undertaking a large-scale campaign to combat terrorism with the help of Washington, which allocated $100 million for anti-terrorism fight.
