Okla. Treasurer won't run for Senate

WASHINGTON, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Oklahoma state Treasurer Robert Butkin says he will not enter the race for the U.S. Senate seat of retiring Republican Don Nickles.

According to the Tulsa World newspaper, Butkin said he was "grateful for the encouragement of many close friends to consider this race" but it was in his family's best interest "to remain in the treasurer's office."
