ATLANTA, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- A woman burst into an Atlanta, Ga. church Sunday and shot the pastor and her mother to death before turning the gun on herself.
Although police were still investigating, several reports had officials calling the incident at Turner Monumental AME Church a murder-suicide, CNN reported.
"We're pretty confident it may have been a murder suicide, but we'll confirm that once the medical examiner finishes," Lt. R.C. Robinson told reporters outside the church.
The shootings happened in the sanctuary before the morning service and there were no witnesses, CNN said.
The only victim identified so far was the pastor, the Rev. Dr. J.C. Reynolds, CNN said.
Robinson said investigators will try to piece together what happened from the crime scene evidence.
"It's unfortunate that it happens anywhere," he said, "but it's very unfortunate that it happens on a Sunday morning inside a church."
