Russian hemp plantation destroyed

VLADIVOSTOK, Russia, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- More than 40,000 hemp bushes were found and destroyed in Russia's far-east Primorye region, RIA Novosti reported Friday.

An illegal plantation of about eight acres was located near the town of Dalnerechensk not far from the border with China.

Staffers with Russia's State Narcotics Control Committee also found about 200 pounds of dried hemp that had been prepared for sale.

Russian law-enforcement agencies are investigating.
