Canadians commemorate Sept. 11

Paramedics in several cities will wear black arm bands throughout the day, the Ottawa Sun said.

In Toronto, fire trucks at 39 fire stations will sound their trucks' air horns at 8:45 Eastern time to remember their colleagues and victims of the airborne terror attacks in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania.

Toronto police also planned a commemorative service with a lone bagpiper playing a lament.

Ottawa Police Chief Vince Bevan and members of the Ottawa Police Pipe Band and Honor Guard traveled to New York City last week to participate in a memorial service.
