Bush and Vajpayee discuss Iraq

NEW DELHI, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- In a five-minute conversation Monday, U.S. President George Bush and Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee exchanged views on the situation in Iraq.

Bush telephoned Vajpayee Monday night, India time, and the two also discussed the preparation for the World Trade Organization's Cancun ministerial meeting, the Press Trust of India reported.

The leaders agreed Indian and U.S. delegations at Cancun would keep in touch.

The call to Vajpayee came a day before U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia Christina Rocca was due to arrive in India for talks with Indian officials. She also is expected to address the Iraq issue.
