Canada body-parts murder victim identified
NEW YORK, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- A federal judge Thursday dismissed a lawsuit accusing the McDonald's Corp. of hiding the health risks of eating its popular Big Macs and Chicken McNuggets.
The suit was filed on behalf of two New York City children, including a 14-year-old girl who is 4-feet-10 and weighs 170 pounds.
U.S. District Judge Robert Sweet ruled the plaintiffs had not substantiated their claim, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Earlier this year, Sweet dismissed a similar suit filed on behalf of obese children. Although Sweet said he was worried the case could "spawn thousands of similar McLawsuits'" against the nation's 870,000 restaurants, he left room for reintroduction of the action if it were accompanied by proof McDonald's procedures added to the health risk.
McDonald's had described the case as "absurd" and "a serious disservice to anyone who is looking for real answers and information about healthy lifestyles, energy balance and personal responsibility."
