AMMAN, Jordan, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- A Jordanian state security court resumed the trial Tuesday of 11 suspected al-Qaida operatives accused in the killing of a U.S. diplomat last October.
The court listened to the testimonies of four police officers who were involved in the investigation of the assassination of diplomat Laurence Foley, who was gunned down in front of his home in the Jordanian capital, Amman.
Five of the defendants, including the main suspect Salem Bin Sweid, a Libyan, attended the hearing session while the remaining six were tried in absentia.
One of the officers testified he screened 36 compact discs belonging to Bin Sweid which carried reports and studies on guerrilla war tactics, how to make explosives, use poison and resist arrest and interrogation.
