BAGHDAD, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Three American soldiers were killed in Iraq in two incidents, U.S. Central Command announced Tuesday.
In the first incident, a 1st Armored Division soldier was killed and another injured in a helicopter accident.
The accident occurred at Camp Dogwood at 12:30 a.m. local time The accident occurred when the UH-60 helicopter rolled over after making a hard landing.
Later, two military police officers were killed and a third was wounded when their vehicle struck an improvised bomb along a main supply route south of Baghdad, officials announced.
U.S. Central Command said the soldiers were from the 220th Military Police Brigade. Their Humvee struck the improvised explosive device at 3:19 p.m. along a main supply route south of Baghdad.
The wounded soldier was evacuated to the 28th Combat Support Hospital for treatment.
The names of the soldiers were withheld pending notification of kin.
