MELBOURNE, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- Melbourne, Australia, police found the bodies of an elderly woman, who apparently died days after her only son and caregiver had died in the same home.
The bodies of Audrey Holding, believed to be in her late 90s, and her 67-year-old son, Brian, were found Friday after a neighbor noticed newspapers dating back three weeks had not been collected from the mail box, The Melbourne Herald reported.
It was not clear why the matter was not reported earlier by the mailman or some other person.
The mother and the son had lived in the brick apartment for 20 years. The apartment shares a driveway with 19 other units.
Police said the woman may have lived for several days confined to her bed and unable to call for help after her son died. Police have ruled out found play.
