Statue of Mary glows; faithful see light

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- A statue of the Virgin Mary at St. Joseph the Provider Church near Youngstown is drawing religious faithful who see the statute appear to glow.

The Youngstown Vindicator reported many people see the eyes and heart of the statue appear to glow, with the glowing becoming brighter at night.

Monsignor Robert Siffrin, vicar general of the Diocese of Youngstown, told the Vindicator the church will try to find a scientific explanation.

But, he added: "Anything in the course of our daily life that challenges people to think about their own life, their relationship to God and their faith is a good reminder. Even if it's not miraculous, it's a good reminder to us that faith is an essential part of human life."
