TROY, Mich., Aug. 13 (UPI) -- A Troy, Mich., man Wednesday faced charges he tried to hire the killings of two suburban Detroit judges.
Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox says Harry Javens tried to solicit the killing of two judges from Oakland's 43rd District Court.
Javens is an Oakland County businessman. The Attorney General alleges Javens hired Richard McLauchlin to collect rents for him but last month, McLauchlin was arrested on a parole violation.
While in prison, McLauchlin told authorities Javens had asked him to kill 43rd District Judge Keith Hunt. McLauchlin then agreed to work with Michigan Sate Police investigators.
When Javens met with McLaughlin, Javens allegedly said he wanted a second judge, Robert Turner, killed as well. Both had sentenced Javens to jail.
If convicted on either count, Javens could go to jail for life.
