Canada body-parts murder victim identified

BANGKOK, Aug. 8 (UPI) -- The Myanmar ruling junta may soon release pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi from house arrest, a Thailand army commander told the Bangkok Post.
The release may come before August 22 when Myanmar and neighboring Thailand are to meet for their regional border committee meeting, according to Lt. Gen. Picharnmet Muangmanee.
"I have received a good signal from Burma (Myanmar) about the planned release of the opposition leader. She will probably be freed during the RBC meeting," he said.
Suu Kyi has been in so-called protective custody since May 30.
Picharnmet, who will co-chair the RBC meeting in Thailand, said drug suppression, border problems, and Myanmar's minority groups, would be discussed.
