PARIS, July 29 (UPI) -- A French judge has questioned Maryam Rajavi over her alleged ties to a terrorist group
Rajavi is the head of an exiled Iranian opposition group accused of funding terrorist activity.
Judge Jean-Louis Bruguiere is investigating the People's Mujahideen and 16 other individuals before deciding whether to press formal charges.
Rajavi denies the group -- which has been classified as a terrorist organization by the United States, European Union and Iran -- has done anything wrong.
The BBC said her arrest in a crackdown by French police sparked angry demonstrations across Europe, including some Iranian supporters who set themselves on fire and by hunger strikes
French officers raided several locations linked to the People's Mujahideen and arrested more than 160 people in a major operation in June.
