Fires blaze in 3 corners of Wyoming

CASPER, Wyo., July 21 (UPI) -- Firefighters were facing a forecast of increasing winds and more hot weather Monday as they tackle wildfires in three corners of the State of Wyoming.

One of the most active fires, the 800-acre Douglas fire 20 miles southwest of Sundance, has a history of leaping from treetop to treetop.

The Casper Star Tribune reports about 65 firefighters from the U.S. Forest Service and the Moorcroft, Pine Haven, Hulett and Sundance fire departments were on the scene in a mixture of pine trees and grassland.

A grass fire Monday also charred about an acre in Bear Gulch, next to the Belle Fourche River in far northeastern Wyoming.

In the Shoshone National Forest 35 miles northwest of Cody, the 2,300-acre Deep Lake fire was burning through dense timber and rugged terrain.
