HONG KONG, July 10 (UPI) -- Twenty-one people died and another 20 were injured Thursday in Hong Kong's worst traffic accident in years.
Four of the injured were hospitalized in critical condition.
Witnesses told ChannelNewsAsia a double-decker bus packed with commuters and school-children collided with a truck and then plunged off an expressway bridge.
The bus company says there was nothing mechanically wrong with the bus, and it had undergonie maintenance just a few days before the accident.
Police arrested the truck driver, but the driver of the bus was killed.
Authorities set up a temporary mortuary at the scene while ambulances transported injured passengers to area hospitals.
As the number of passengers on the bus at the time of the crash was unknown, workers labored to upright the bus to see if anyone was trapped underneath the wreckage.
