'Smatter' spray foam recalled

WASHIINGTON, D.C., July 2 (UPI) -- The Consumer Product Safety Commission and JAKKS Pacific Wednesday announced the recall of "Smatter" Spray Foam.

The CPSC said consumers should stop using the recalled product because the aerosol cans can forcefully break apart, posing a risk of serious injury.

There are about 1.3 million Smatter cans affected by the recall.

The company said it has received four reports of aerosol cans breaking apart, including one incident that resulted in a laceration injury and several other incidents involving property damage.

The "Smatter" spray comes in a pressurized can and emits a colored foam based on one of six brand names: "Original Smatter," "Blueberry Smatter," "Banana Cream Smatter," "Lemon Meringue Smatter," and "Fatter Smatter." The brand name is printed on the can and the word "Nickelodeon" is printed on the orange trigger mechanism.

Smatter is a play product and is not meant to be eaten.
