Cuban dictator 'duped' in phony phone call

MIAMI, June 19 (UPI) -- Cuban President Fidel Castro reportedly hurled explicatives at a Miami radio station during a live interview garnered under false pretences.

Posing as an aide to Venuzualan President Hugo Chavez, Enrique Santos and Joe Ferrero of the WXDJ-FM, a Spanish-language station, convinced Castro to help track down a lost briefcase that contained sensitive documents.

The two Miami DJs, who have gained international notoriety by using ruses to ring up Latin American presidents and South Florida dignitaries, used pre-recorded phrases to engage Castro in a four-minute conversation.

Santos revealed the ruse by saying: "You fell for it just like Hugo Chavez," referring to a show in which the disc jockeys called Chavez, pretending to be Castro.

"Fell for what? I haven't said (expletive). Go to (expletive)," the Washington Times quotes Castro as saying. Infuriated at being duped, Castro lashed out at Santos' heritage and sexual orientation.

The telephone call ended with whoops of joy in the WXDJ studio.
