Lawsuit sees priest's sexual misconduct

OAKLAND, Calif., June 11 (UPI) -- A California woman is accusing her parish priest of sexually abusing her.

The civil lawsuit, filed Wednesday, accuses the Rev. Brian Jones of breach of fiduciary duty, battery, and infliction of emotional distress. The lawsuit asks for unspecified exemplary and punitive damages.

Joyce has been a national spokesperson for the Catholic Church, appearing on National Public Radio. He has been critical of priests who have molested children and the Church's response to such allegations.

The lawsuit claims Joyce, pastor of Christ the King Church in Pleasant Hill, used his position as a priest to lure SueDee McClelland into a sexual relationship that lasted from 1964 until June of 2002.
