Small LA plane crash kills 2

LOS ANGELES, June 7 (UPI) -- Investigators said Saturday that they haven't determied what caused the crash of a small airplane into a Los Angeles apartment building that killed two.

Officials said there was no evidence that terrorism was involved. Nonetheless, the FBI and other terrorism experts are involved in the investigation.

The plane, a six-seat Beechcraft Bonanza, en route to Sun Valley, Idaho, had taken off from the Santa Monica Airport, about seven miles west of the crash site, according to authorities.

The plane dove through the top floor of the 14-unit three-story apartment complex causing a two-alarm fire.

Controllers in the airport tower told the pilot to contact the Southern California Terminal Radar Approach Control facility in San Diego for further guidance, but the pilot never did so, the Federal Aviation Administration told the Los Angeles Times.
