Phoenix bishop says he hid abuse claims

June 2, 2003 at 12:30 PM   |   Comments

PHOENIX, June 2 (UPI) -- The Catholic bishop in Phoenix confirmed to prosecutors he had covered up allegations of sexual abuse by his priests, the Arizona Republic said Monday. Maricopa County prosecutors scheduled a news conference, presumably to discuss the admission Bishop Thomas O'Brien made last month in order to avoid criminal charges.
