Tornado death toll reaches 34

PIERCE CITY, Mo., May 5 (UPI) -- Gov. Bob Holden declared a state emergency and called out the National Guard after tornadoes left a trail of destruction across Kansas, Missouri and Tennessee. At least 34 people were killed including 11 confirmed dead in Missouri, two in the collapse of a National Guard Armory in devastated Pierce City.
