Crude slides as Nigeria strike called off

LOS ANGELES, April 1 (UPI) -- May crude was off nearly $1 and sliding toward $30 per barrel at midday Tuesday after a planned general strike in Nigeria was called off. The move was greeted by traders as a sign that next month's presidential election in the African nation would proceed without widespread upheaval.
