Calif. gasoline nearly all ethanol-based

PLACENTIA, Calif., Jan. 9 (UPI) -- ChevronTexaco's plans to use ethanol in its California gasoline this winter means nearly the entire state has moved from MTBE, ethanol advocates said Thursday. Refiners have until the end of the year to make the change as California phases out the petrochemical oxygenate MTBE in favor of grain-based ethanol.
