PHOENIX, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Daymond Langkow's 500th NHL game was more memorable Monday night than he might have imagined as he scored the tying goal with 5:08 remaining in the third period, then tallied with 29 seconds to go in vertime to give the Phoenix Coyotes a 4-3 victory over the Edmonton Oilers, extending their home unbeaten streak to five games.

After forcing the extra session with his fourth goal of the season and second in as many games, Langkow deflected Shane Doan's wrist shot from the left point while standing in the left faceoff circle. It was his 100th NHL goal and snapped the Coyotes' four-game losing streak against Edmonton.

In his seventh full NHL season, Langkow has scored three goals since the return of goaltender Sean Burke, who stopped 31 shots for his second win in as many games since coming back from an ankle injury.

Burke, who evened his record at 3-3-0, also hit a milestone, appearing in his 700th career contest.

Mike Comrie had a goal and two assists and Tommy Salo made 35 saves for the Oilers, who fell to 1-4

2 in their last seven games.
