Calif. faces irrigation water cutoff

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- A portion of the Colorado River water flowing into California's Imperial Valley will be cut off Tuesday night unless a water transfer plan is approved. The Imperial Irrigation District rejected a plan earlier and was meeting Tuesday evening to discuss a possible compromise that would satisfy the federal government.
