Coleman wants Sen. Barkley to step aside

MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- U.S. Sen.-elect Norman Coleman is asking interim Sen. Dean Barkley to step aside and allow the Republican to be sworn in as Minnesota's junior senator. Gov. Jesse Ventura appointed his former Independence Party campaign manager to serve the remainder of the term of Sen. Paul Wellstone, who died in a plane crash two weeks ago.
