LA swears in new police chief

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- William Bratton was sworn in Friday as the new chief of the sometimes-troubled Los Angeles Police Department. The one-time head of the New York police force replaces Bernard Parks, and has indicated one of his first anti-crime drives will be erasing the gang graffiti scrawled over much of the city.
