Bush move on ports draws mixed reaction

WASHINGTON, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- President Bush's decision Tuesday to ask a federal court to reopen West Coast ports and impose a cooling-off period that would end a 10-day labor lockout was greeted with mixed reactions. The National Retail Federation praised Bush's decision saying he had shown "political courage and leadership," while the United auto Workers called federal intervention in labor disputes a "bad idea."
