New England 16, Philadelphia 15

FOXBORO, Mass., Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Kevin Faulk had a one-yard touchdown run and Adam Vinatieri kicked three field goals Satuday night as the New England Patriots held off the Philadelphia Eagles, 16-15, in their Gillette Stadium debut.

Trailing 16-9, the Eagles pulled within a point when A.J. Feeley found a wide-open Sean Morey in the end zone with 50 seconds left.

Eagles coach Andy Reid elected to go for the win, but rookie rusher Corey McIntyre dropped Feely's pass on the two-point conversion attempt. Philadelphia recovered the ensuing onside kick but was unable to pull within field goal range.

Vinatieri hit from 27, 46 and 37 yards out for the Patriots, who did not allow a sack but committed four turnovers.

Faulk rushed 12 times for 69 yards and Antowain Smith had nine carries for 34 yards.

Neither starting quarterback looked sharp. New England's Tom Brady completed 11-of-19 passes for 116 yards but threw two interceptions, including one into the end zone.

Philadelphia's Donovan McNabb was 8-of-14 for 59 yards.
