MONTREAL, June 9 (UPI) -- Ferrari driver Michael Schumacher of Germany won the Formula One Canadian Grand Prix for a record fifth time Sunday, holding off McLaren's David Coulthard by just over a second.

Williams driver Juan Pablo Montoya, the pole sitter, was in contention for most of the 69 laps, but engine failure forced him out late in the race.

Rubens Barrichello, Schumacher's Ferrari teammate finished third, ahead of Kimi Raikkonen and Giancarlo Fisichella, who completed the top five.
