PROVIDENCE, R.I., June 8 (UPI) -- One person was killed and another wounded during a shooting Saturday at The Providence Journal's production plant, while the suspect and a third man are believed to have died in a separate incident nearby.

Providence Police Department Col. Richard Sullivan said the suspected gunman walked into the building about 9:30 a.m., fatally shot co-worker Robert Bennetti, 38, and then walked outside and shot another employee, Charlie Johnson, in the face.

Police said Johnson, 30, was listed in satisfactory condition at Rhode Island Hospital. The suspected gunman's name was not released.

After the shooting, the suspect's vehicle was found at a manufacturing facility near an airport in Warwick, R.I., about 13 miles from Providence. Sullivan said the vehicle was burned and had a body inside.

Authorities are also investigating what appears to be a murder at a single family home in Warwick. The body of Matthew Fandetti, 29, was discovered inside the home around 11 a.m. Fandetti also worked at the Providence Journal production plant.

Howard G. Sutton, the Journal's publisher, said the newspaper is cooperating fully with authorities and that police would distribute any additional information about the incident and the individuals involved.

"The Journal family has suffered a terrible tragedy," said Sutton, in a statement. "Our thoughts and our focus are with our employees and their families."
