Court splits again on federalism

WASHINGTON, May 28 (UPI) -- The Supreme Court decided 5-4 along ideological lines Tuesday that a federal agency such as the Federal Maritime Commission cannot rule on a private party's complaint against a state. The court's liberal wing predicted the decision will broadly impair the government's ability to protect the public.
