Lobby Day, when IAFF members visit with their elected officials to discuss IAFF priority issues. All conference participants are urged to contact their Representatives and Senators at least one month before the Conference to schedule appointments for that day.

6 p.m. - Evening will feature a special congressional reception. All Members of Congress will be invited to come and meet their local fire fighters in a relaxed setting.

EVENT: CATO INSTITUTE AND NATIONAL BLACK CHAMBER OF COMMERCE hold a conference Social Security and African Americans. Perhaps no group has as much at stake in the debate over Social Security reform as African Americans. Elderly African Americans are much more likely than their white counterparts to be dependent on Social Security benefits for most or all of their retirement income. Yet Social Security benefits are inadequate to provide for the retirement needs of the elderly poor, which leave nearly 30 percent of African-American seniors in poverty.
