Bush gives kudos, support to Calif's Simon

LOS ANGELES, March 6 (UPI) -- President Bush called fellow Republican Bill Simon on Wednesday to congratulate him on winning the GOP nomination to run for governor of California. Simon now has eight long months to convince voters to oust incumbent Democrat Gray Davis. The president pledged to campaign in the state on Simon's behalf.
