LA confirms post-Sept. 11 hate crime surge

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- More so-called hate crimes against people of Middle East origin were reported in Los Angeles County during the weeks following Sept. 11 than all of last year, county officials reported. The Human Relations Commission said there were 92 such incidents this fall, including two homicides still considered possible hate crimes.
