Bush offers, Senate rejects, stimulus deal

WASHINGTON, Dec. 19 (UPI) -- President Bush -- bolstered by support from three Democratic Senators -- offered a plan Wednesday to break a House-Senate logjam on economic stimulus. But Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, D-S.D., rejected the deal and said it lacked the 60 Senate votes necessary to see Senate action, even if the House passes it.
