Bush refuses congressional subpoena

WASHINGTON, Dec. 13 (UPI) -- Claiming executive privilege, the Bush administration Thursday refused to honor a series of subpoenas from a House committee investigating the use of informants in organized crime cases and alleged campaign finance violations in the Clinton administration. Justice Department officials said the refusal would help keep investigations "free from political influences."
