Reynolds tobacco buying cigarette firm

WINSTON-SALEM,, N.C., Dec. 11 (UPI) -- R.J. Reynolds Tobacco, the nation's second-largest cigarette maker, said Tuesday it is buying Santa Fe Natural Tobacco, maker of the American Spirit cigarette brand, for $340 million in cash. Reynolds outbid Rothmans Inc., of Canada, to buy the small company, which sells cigarettes made with additive-free tobacco.
