Edwards appeals corruption conviction

BATON ROUGE, La., Dec. 7 (UPI) -- Former Louisiana Gov. Edwin Edwards has asked a federal appeals court to overturn his conviction last year on charges of extorting payments for riverboat casino licenses. In an appeal filed Thursday, Edwards alleged his trial was "marred by unfairness" and he challenged the controversial removal of a juror during deliberations.
