GOP accepts Democrat compromise offer

WASHINGTON, Nov. 28 (UPI) -- Republican lawmakers Wednesday accepted an offer by Senate Democrats to begin talks on an economic stimulus plan, after Majority Leader Tom Daschle, D-S.D., folded on his proposal to add $15 billion in new spending. Republican Leader Trent Lott also said he supports a month-long payroll tax holiday to stimulate growth.
