NEW YORK, Nov. 9 (UPI) -- The chairwoman of the state Democratic Party, Judith Hope, unexpectedly resigned Friday. While the loss of Democrat Mark Green for mayor of New York City to Republican Michael Bloomberg stung, more controversial was her post-election call for one of the two Democratic candidates for governor to step down to avoid a primary.
