Gov. Davis signs environmental bills

SACRAMENTO, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- In a victory for environmentalists, Gov. Gray Davis, D-Calif., Saturday signed a bill that would limit development of environmentally sensitive lands. Davis also signed a $2.6 billion park measure and vetoed a bill that would have allowed old offshore oil platforms to remain in place and be turned into artificial reefs.
