Top-seeded Timea Babos is thriving in her home country and dispatched Oceane Dodin on Friday to advance to the semifinals of the Hungarian Ladies Open at Budapest.

Babos recorded a 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 win over the seventh-seeded Dodin. She struggled in the second set against the Frenchwoman before recovering with a dominating final-set victory.

Babos will face third-seeded Julia Goerges in the semifinals. Goerges posted a 6-1, 7-5 victory over fifth-seeded Belgian Yanina Wickmayer.

"It was a very good match from my side," Goerges said afterward. "It's always a tough one against Yanina."

Second-seeded Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic will face Germany's Carina Witthoeft in the other semifinal.

Safarova struggled at times with Belgian qualifier Aliaksandra Sasnovich before prevailing 6-3, 7-5.

Witthoeft had a much smoother time as she rolled through eighth-seeded Annika Beck 6-1, 6-1.

"I am really happy with how I played today," Witthoeft said after beating her fellow German. "I hadn't played against Annika for a very long time but we do practice quite often. It was tougher than what the score shows. I'm really happy to be through to the semifinals."
