Thierry Henry says managing Arsenal would be 'dream'

March 2 (UPI) -- French soccer icon Thierry Henry is interested in managing his former club, Arsenal.

In fact, Henry recently told Sky Sports that it would be his "dream."

"It would be a dream for me," Henry told Sky Sports. "Interested [in the job]? Yes. Who wouldn't be?"

"But I can't talk about it because of the respect that I have for the man in charge still, and my job that I'm doing with Belgium right now."

The Gunners have lost three consecutive games. Arsenal also lost 3-0 Sunday to Manchester City in the EFL Cup Final.

Arsenal's cold stretch has resulted on criticism being heaped upon manager Arsene Wenger. But on Wednesday, Wenger said he wasn't concerned about his position with the Premier League power.

"My position is my position," Wenger said at Wednesday's news conference, according to Arsenal.com. "Honestly, that's the last worry I have at the moment. My worry is to focus, to get the team ready for tomorrow's game."

Wenger also said that it's for other people to judge him, as his "job is to perform."

"I just told you, I just gave you the answer of what my way of thinking is," Wenger said. "It's the next game. We are in that kind of situation where you want to focus on the next game. I don't ask you if your position is reviewed at the end of the season."

Wenger was also asked if he is a better manager now than he was five years ago.

"How do you judge that, only be results, the quality of work? The problem of a manager is to take the best out of a team and how can you rate that, how can you evaluate that? The only thing I can tell you is that I try to be a better manager than I was five years ago and I put the effort in to be a better manager than I was five years ago," Wenger said. "After that, if you say to me that you don't agree then I can understand that but the effort, the heart and work is behind it."

Wenger, 68, assumed his role at Arsenal in 1996 after managing for 12 years at Nancy, Monaco and Nagoya Grampus Eight. He agreed to a two-year contract extension in 2017 with Arsenal.

Henry, 40, has never managed, but played for the club from 1999 through 2007. He also went on loan with the Gunners in 2012.

He currently serves as an assistant manager for Belgium.
