GLASGOW, Scotland, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- When you are arguably the world's most popular athlete, fans will do just about anything to be in your midst.

For Lionel Messi, that means being encountered by overzealous fans jumping from the stands and into the tunnel as you walk off of the soccer pitch.

Messi and Luis Suarez helped Barcelona defeat Celtic in the July 30 ICC friendly.

As Messi entered the player's tunnel, a fan jumped down from the stands, landing on his feet directly in front of the superstar. Right before the fan was about to put his hands on Messi, a security guard tackled him back inside the tunnel, under the stands.

Barcelona faces Sevilla Aug. 12 at Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.
