BARCELONA, Spain, July 25 (UPI) -- In the flick of a boot, Lionel Messi has gone from disheveled soccer sensation to hipster fútbol wizard.

He completed the process by debuting a new hairstyle on Instagram Monday. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner was shown with the new look on Luis Suarez's Instagram account first.

"Taking off to England. Going on with the preseason and my friend @leomessi with his new look," Suarez wrote.

Messi's wife also posted a photo of her husband with the new color, saying: "look of change #blondeboy." Her Instagram account went private after the photo went viral.

The 29-year-old has had a rough summer. He lost the Copa America Centenario Final in brutal fashion, before retiring from international soccer, and was also sentenced to jail time after being found guilty over tax evasion charges. He won't actually serve jail time, unless he breaks the law again.

Messi also watched rival Cristiano Ronaldo lead Portugal to the 2016 UEFA Euro Cup title against France.

Barcelona faces Celtic at 7 p.m. July 30 in a Champions Cup Friendly at Dublin's Aviva Stadium.
